“I know First Book’s model and I’ve seen the way it delivers powerful results to support its important mission. This is a social enterprise that is well positioned to take the power of its proven model to a global scale.” John B. Veihmeyer RETIRED CHAIRMAN, KPMG INTERNATIONAL

Houston, Florida, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands: so many communities ravaged by disaster. While first responders help families, we are planning for the next phase of recovery.

First Book, along with the American Federation of Teachers and the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, launched the Essentials for Kids Fund to distribute books, school supplies, and basic needs items for impacted communities.

Books and resources fuel recovery and educational achievement. But budget-strapped schools and programs serving low-income families are often without the essentials to help kids learn — even before disasters strike.

Education is the path out of poverty and loss. Through our growing network of nearly 350,000 educators, we remove barriers and enrich classrooms and programs serving kids in need, with:
• Brand new books that celebrate diversity, further children’s resiliency, build confidence, and inspire readers.
• Resources to address the opportunity gap — from e-books, to sports equipment, winter coats, toothbrushes and socks.
• Hope for struggling families who need our help.

Join us to support educators and fuel learning and recovery for millions of children.
