SALINA
ON YOUR WAY SOUTH

Located central in the continental U.S., at the junction of I-70 and US81, Salina, Kansas is the perfect place to stop as you travel south!

Not only is Salina a convenient destination for a getaway, it is home to great experiences the whole family will love. Those with an appreciation for the arts will be pleasantly surprised by the level of quality found in performances by the Salina Symphony and by touring concerts at the lovingly restored Stiefel Theatre. Located downtown, this historic 1930’s beauty once hosted vaudeville and movies center stage, and today is a beloved, intimate venue for diverse entertainment.

The recently expanded, modern and nationally acclaimed Salina Community Theatre also is a popular choice for its diverse stage productions held throughout the year in their Sunflower Theater and Kephart Theatre. From dramas to musicals to theatre by and for children, the offerings at SCT bring audiences from across the Midwest.

Enjoy exhibitions at Salina Art Center and nightly films at their Art Center Cinema, both experiences that might be unexpected in a community of our size. Explore our regional heritage at the Smoky Hill Museum, and be sure to take a peek at their new children’s area — The Curiosity Shop. Those with a thirst for knowledge can learn even more about our beginnings at the Yesteryear Museum and Museum of Scouting.

Visual art peppers public places community-wide with murals, sculptures and intriguing installations such as SculptureTour Salina. Changing each May, this outdoor exhibit held downtown has 20 plus pieces on loan from artists from across the States and beyond.

Salina’s love of the arts culminates with diverse music, fine arts and crafts at the Smoky Hill River Festival the second weekend of June each summer. In late October, Blue Heaven Studios presents Blues Masters at the Crossroads with extraordinary blues greats in concert. Our Friday Night Live program presents live entertainment in the downtown corridor on a regular basis too!

Speaking of downtown, ours is about to have a fabulous facelift! Soon we will begin a massive streetscape project that will transform our already quaint downtown into a true destination for local shops and eateries, entertainment and recreation. Looking ahead, Salina will also embark on the Smoky Hill River Renewal which will create a unique recreational destination adjacent to downtown.

Before leaving Salina don’t forget to hit the links on one of our fantastic golf courses — open nearly year-round — and discover two experiences in one at Rolling Hills Zoo. Not only will you find more than 100 species of animals here; their Wildlife Museum will take you around the world with beautiful dioramas.

There is a LOT going on, and coming soon in Salina, Kansas! Come check it out!
