Welcome To Ventura

Each day in Ventura starts with a little piece of summer. Sunshine. Palm trees. An ocean breeze. Each year brings an average of 300 blue skies with highs of 71 degrees. Each dawn brings surfers to the shores looking for the next perfect wave. Each evening brings an ocean sunset more beautiful than the last. Endless summers — the perfect complement to craft brews and fish tacos, flip flops and bikini tops.

Only 60 miles north of Los Angeles, nestled between Malibu and Santa Barbara, Ventura is where golden hillsides and Pacific blues envelop downtown under a cloak of that laid-back, California, beach town vibe. Where botanical gardens give way to panoramic coastal views and the beach is five minutes from a 200 year-old mission storing Native American history in its walls. Ventura is rooted…welcoming.

While our popular neighbors have the luxury travel experience down to an art, Ventura offers a more affordable alternative where visitors can fit in almost anywhere wearing shorts and sandals. Million dollar views atop Ventura’s Botanical Gardens are in fact free and open to the public. Surftastic waves are complimentary as are the beautiful sunsets over the Pacific.

Spend hours exploring Ventura’s traditional all-American Main Street filled with unique shops, art, historic sites, and yummy eats. Venture into craft breweries where brewmasters themselves are ready to recommend the perfect pairing to their unique brews. Stroll down the pier, only 2 blocks from Main Street — a local favorite spot for fishing, sunset strolls and happy hour. To the left of the pier find San Buenaventura State Beach, one of the few beaches in southern California that allow alcoholic beverages. Grab a baguette and your favorite bottle of wine, and head over to The Jolly Oyster to give beachside-DIY oyster shucking a try. Or rent bikes and cycle along the promenade, the starting point for two amazing bike paths: a coastal route that leads to Santa Barbara, and a mountain route that descends into Ojai.

Just off Ventura’s coast, glistening sun rays shine through majestic kelp forests at Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary. Charming island foxes lie ready to greet hikers at the start of their adventure. Playful sea lions await sea cave kayakers passing by. A place where trails ascend along grassy plateaus, winding down through scenic olive groves to stellar beaches that reflect both the blue sky and the water, amidst complete solitude. A place that invites you to step back in time to the original California. Vibrant. Dynamic. Unapologetic.

Welcome to Ventura.
