If you prefer river fishing or want to wade a trout stream, we have that too. In fact, we’re home to over 170 lakes and 50 rivers and streams for your boating and fishing pleasure.

In addition to some of the best fishing in the country, the Northwoods has over one million acres of national forest for you to explore, not to mention hundreds of miles of ATV/UTV, snowmobile, equestrian, hiking, biking and cross-county ski trails. Over 1,050 square miles are crisscrossed with networks of trails devoted to meeting your expectations for fun and recreation. Clearly marked and well-groomed cross-country ski trails let you swoosh through the Nicolet National Forest and Machickanee County Forest. These trails are also fun to discover on foot or by bike in the summer.
