For Your Must-Do List Santa Fe Celebrates Global Arts & Culture

From May through October of 2017, Cathedral Park in Santa Fe will host a magnificent exhibition of 92 reproductions of masterpieces from the Museo del Prado in Madrid. The exhibition will be making its U.S. debut in Santa Fe and is only one experience of dozens in the yearlong, citywide “Santa Fe Celebrates Global Arts & Culture.”

The City of Santa Fe, the Spanish Colonial Arts Society and the New Mexico Multi-Cultural Foundation have taken the lead in coordinating the Prado exhibition, while also spearheading the development of many other extraordinary showcases throughout the year, in what will truly be a unique and inspiring celebration for all.

This one-of-a-kind celebration includes many renowned Santa Fe institutions — including a host of noteworthy museums, the Santa Fe Opera, the Lensic Performing Arts Center, and of course the unique Santa Fe summer art and cultural markets — who have all joined together to showcase first class art and culture from around the world!

From Velázquez’s magnum opus Las Meninas to the stunning photography of Frida Kahlo, from O’Keeffe’s Japan collection to historical and powerful expressions of Native Art, from the mind of Leonardo da Vinci to the innovation of Steve Jobs, from passionate Flamenco to soul-stirring Opera — visitors to The City Different throughout 2017 are assured to experience a vast and dazzling array of high-quality, global cultural masterworks. All of this comes along with the many, undeniable attractions that consistently draw visitors to The City Different year after year. With the famed Sangre de Cristo Mountains as a backdrop, the celebration won’t be limited to the exhibitions.
