Lakes Region – So many reasons to visit the Lakes Region
For generations, visitors have retreated to New Hampshire’s Lakes Region for summertime fun! Just a short drive from Boston or Manchester regional airports, the region offers a wide variety of recreational activities for all ages. Family and adventure attractions, tax-free shopping, museums, scenic trains, plane and boat rides, and trails to hike, bike or ride are just a few of the ways to spend a getaway in the Lakes Region.
With 273 clean lakes and ponds to choose from, vacationers can easily beat the summer heat. Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest of the lakes, with 72 square miles of water and countless opportunities for fun. Relax on one of the sandy beaches, and then cool off by taking a dip in the refreshing water. Rent a kayak or take in the views from a sailboat or powerboat – or leave the navigation to the pros with a fishing guide, dinner and dance cruise, or even a private charter.
Later, in the fall, the lakes are the perfect backdrop to set off the foliage that has made New Hampshire famous worldwide. Autumn days are warm, the nights are cool – and the bold colors are amazing.
