Family friendly Holiday Valley Resort is nestled in the Allegany Mountains of Western New York, just 3 hours south of Toronto. From the snowy winter ski slopes to the sunny summer golf course, pools and mountain biking, there’s always something for families who are looking for adventure, excitement, fresh air and fun.
A World of Winter Excitement
From December through March, the resort’s 58 ski slopes and 13 lifts are spread over 4 different mountain faces. Holiday Valley’s 5 terrain parks, mogul fields, glades and cruising runs provide pockets of interesting terrain throughout the resort. Happy Glade, one of 4 tree filled glades is a kid’s delight with a gentle pitch and tightly packed evergreens that leads to a secret fort in the woods. Morning Star’s easier bumps provide the training ground for the Chute’s serious moguls. The Terrain Garden has down-sized rails to give kids (and parents) a place to learn how to ride and slide on non-intimidating features before they tackle the 42/78 Park on Foxfire. Kids love learning and meeting new friends at the Mountain Adventures Snowsports School and the Holiday Valley Day Care. A visit to the Holiday Valley Tubing Company tops off the day with laughter and great memories. March is the perfect time to visit Holiday Valley with warmer temperatures and longer days. The Tamarack Club and the Inn at Holiday Valley offer ski-in, ski-out access, indoor/outdoor heated pools, hot tubs and saunas. The full service Falling Waters Spa and the lively John Harvard’s Brew House are located in the Tamarack Club. Slope side and nearby condominiums and homes are available through Holiday Valley Property Management. Weekday lift and lodging packages start at $287 and include FREE lift tickets for up to 2 children. Spring lodging rates start on March 20.
New Adventure Park for Summer 2011
The exciting Sky High Adventure Park is Holiday Valley’s newest spring-summer-fall attraction. The Aerial Adventure which opens in June 2011 is a playground in the tree tops where strategy and balance are used to navigate from tree to tree across logs, ropes or hanging blocks of wood.
The level of difficulty increases as the height above the ground increases. Opening midsummer, the Mountain Coaster is a thrilling ride down banked curves, over humps, and round about corkscrews. Watch videos of the action at www.holidayvalley.com/skyhigh. Holiday Valley’s Double Black Diamond is a challenging and scenic 6500 yard par 70 golf course that winds around the base of the resort. Stay and Play packages start at $123 per person. A new 3-pool swim complex, complete with Cabana Bar, ping pong and poolside service is the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day.
Shopping, dining and strolling are delightful in the welcoming Village of Ellicottville, and a lively night life heats up all year long. Ellicottville plays host to several weekend music and arts festivals and sporting events. The Seneca Allegany Casino is just 12 miles south.
