Festivities Abound on NANTUCKET
From July through October, a flurry of eclectic festivities abound on the “Faraway Island.”
July is especially jubilant, with the Nantucket Comedy Festival, Atheneum Dance Festival and Nantucket Garden Festival holding court. At the 44th annual Sandcastle and Sculpture Day, family teams vie for ribbons as they transform Jetties Beach into a whimsical wonderland. Keith Lockhart returns this August to conduct the Boston Pops (with special guest Kenny Loggins!), suffusing the seaside with scintillating sound. As summer draws to a close the Nantucket Maritime Festival showcases family-friendly activities on Children’s Beach and Brant Point.
Early autumn, the best time of year on Nantucket, celebrates the Cranberry. Enjoy harvest and animal demonstrations, live music, cooking demonstrations, and many children’s activities! Don’t miss the first NantucketGrown Food Festival mid-October, featuring tastings, demonstrations and brewery tours. Comedy, song and dance, castles in the sand nautical delights and food…all part of a splendid festival season on Nantucket!
