Experience Our Hidden Treasures

When a town is built around a winding river, bridges become very necessary. Valley City ND — the City of Bridges — is proud of its beautiful and historic bridges.

Slow down and enjoy the small town aura of Valley City. Check out our numerous downtown specialty shops: antiques and collectibles, quilting, thrift stores and more. No big box stores here! Experience a self-guided tour of our historic bridges. The Rosebud Visitor Center offers an insight of living on the railroad with the 1881 Superintendent’s Railcar. You can also enjoy the North Dakota Agriculture Hall of Fame.

Valley City is the ‘Gateway to the Sheyenne River Valley.’ You can experience the simple beauty of nature by traveling the Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway that takes you across bountiful farmland and through small villages. View the award-winning interpretation at 27 sites. Parallel to the byway is the North Country National Scenic Trail that goes from Crown Point NY to Lake Sakakawea in North Dakota. Part of the trail in Valley City goes through Medicine Wheel Park. You will find a replica Native American Solar Calendar, Indian Burial Mounds and a walk through the planets.

Valley City is not your ordinary small town. We have much more to offer as you travel through the Sheyenne River Valley and experience our Scenic Bridges and Hidden Treasures!
