Discover a Vast Uncrowded Playground
The International Selkirk Loop is a breathtaking, 280-mile long scenic route that winds through northern Idaho, eastern Washington and southeastern British Columbia. The spectacular Selkirk Mountains set the stage for this drive, which is highlighted by crystal clear rivers, sparkling lakes, more than 20 waterfalls, snow-capped mountain peaks and charming communities with fascinating history and vibrant festivals.
Much of the land in the Loop corridor is National Forest, National Wildlife Refuge, Wildlife Management Area, or Provincial Park, so there are myriad opportunities for outdoor recreation — a vast uncrowded playground! Hundreds of miles of maintained trails are available for all levels of hiking, biking, horseback riding, skiing and snowmobile touring. Rock climbing and ziplining are popular for the more adventurous. You will also find a wide variety of one of-a-kind attractions and historical sites that should be on everyone’s bucket list.
In 2005 the International Selkirk Loop was designated as one of only 32 All-American Road National Scenic Byways in the U.S. and is also one of the Top 10 scenic drives in the Northern Rockies. It is no surprise that it is the only recognized multi-country scenic route in North America.
